Bengals
The name Komainu holds deep personal meaning for us. In Japanese culture, Komainu are mythical lion-dog guardians, placed at the entrances of temples to ward off evil and protect sacred spaces. They symbolize strength, loyalty, and guardianship—qualities that resonate deeply with the spirit of the Bengal breed. But for us, Komainu is also a tribute.
Before beginning our journey with Bengals, we bred and raised Belgian Malinois—loyal, intelligent, and fiercely devoted guard dogs. They were more than animals; they were partners, protectors, and family. Naming our cattery Komainu Bengals is our way of honoring their memory and carrying forward the legacy of strength, vigilance, and love that they embodied.
Our Bengals may be wild in spirit, but they are also watchful companions with hearts full of loyalty—just like the guard dogs who came before them.
At Komainu Bengals, we are committed to preserving and improving the Bengal breed with intention, ethics, and love. While most of our kittens are placed in carefully chosen pet homes, we do occasionally offer breeding rights to registered, ethical, and experienced breeders who share our values.
